See You in Vegas!

I will be moderating a panel on reverse mergers at this week’s PIPE Conference at the fabulous Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas (I always remember my kids watching “Rugrats” when they went on a trip to “Slots Vegas,” or an LA-based client who prefers “Lost Wages”). As always, DealFlow Media and its conference coordinator Eric Salvarezza did a great job setting up a bunch of really great panels. I’m sure the turnout will be great.

When I was last in Vegas in June, it was a town really struggling. Every cab driver or waiter we spoke to was lamenting the severe impact the Great Recession has had on them. Hotels have slashed prices and that has helped increase the traffic. Let’s hope the invasion of the PIPE players will bring a little revenue to the beleaugered town.

I also hope this fall conference will have a much more positive attitude than the doom-and-gloom that pervaded last year’s New York PIPE conference. Given that the PIPE market has indeed picked up, this should be the case. We hope the next Reverse Merger conference in the spring will be the time when we can report that the PIPE players have resumed more active investing in less liquid but higher upside opportunities in reverse merger and self-filing transactions. Meantime, I hope to see you all there!
