China- Land of Pandas, the Great Wall and Reverse Mergers

The heading above is the title of the new chapter we’ve been working on for the second edition of my book which is expected to be released later this year. Reverse mergers from China have become so ubiquitous at this point they have earned a full chapter!

Thus it is fitting that I am now here in Shanghai getting ready for tomorrow’s start of the International PIPE Conference sponsored by DealFlow Media. Even though there are more and more Western influences here, it is truly a completely unique place and quite different from the West that we are used to.

Here are a few silly observations, we will save the substantive informati0n for a post after the conference later this week:

* The BBC World News is better than CNN International.

* It is all soccer and rugby and cricket (still trying to figure that out). But US basketball also seems popular. Strange to see a Lakers game being called by Chinese commentators.

* Just outside my hotel room I see three other large buildings actively under construction. Almost looks like Washington, DC!

* I have eaten and liked chicken sausage. Sorry just can’t get into sushi.

* I love the little pool you have to step in to rinse your feet before entering the indoor pool area at the hotel.

* The focus on service in this country is extraordinary. We can all take a lesson. Maybe we can teach them some stuff about marketing and they can give us some tips on customer service.

More to come……
